Robert Altonio Hurt, son of Thomas and Dorothy(Crowder) Hurt, was born September 22, 1940, in Evansville, Indiana. He departed this life Sunday, June 29, 2014, in his home in Waynesville, Missouri, at the age of seventy-three years, nine months and seven days. On December 4, 1992, he was united in marriage to Benita Marie Trombley, and to this union one son was born. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jeffery Moore; and a sister Cyndy. Robert is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of the home; five children, Tammy Martin of Nixa, MO, Sonja Graffam-Robinson of Waynesville, MO, Helen Nemetz of the State of Texas, Kenneth Moore of Radcliff, KY, and Thomas Hurt of Waynesville, MO; eleven grandchildren; a sister, Geneva Averett of Evansville, IN, and a brother, Edward Hurt of Chicago, IL; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. He was born and reared in Indiana, and at the age of 18 he entered the United States Army. He was honorably discharged after 39 years of faithful service to his country, including two tours to Vietnam. He met and married Bonnie in Waynesville and they continued to make their home here throughout the years. He loved to stay busy, and in his spare time he enjoyed golf and all kinds of sports. To those who loved him, Robert was a great husband, father and provider. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. We celebrate his life and cherish the memories he created for his family and friends. He will live on in our hearts forever. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014 in the Refiner’s Fire Apostolic Church of Waynesville with Pastors Eugene and Tosha Floyd officiating. Burial with military honors followed in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville with military honors provided by the United States Army of Fort Leonard Wood. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
