Teddy Floyd “Ted” Williams, son of the late Julius Theodore “J.T.” Williams and Mattie Mae (Stills) Williams, was born August 31, 1933 in Maumee, Arkansas. At the young age of 4, Ted and his family moved to Mansfield, Missouri and then at the age of 10, moved to Buckhorn, Pulaski County, Missouri. They later moved to Newburg for a short time before returning to Pulaski County. Ted entered the United States Air Force and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge in July 1959. Ted met a young lady by the name of Laurel Sue Nicks. They began dating and were united in marriage on May 17, 1956 in Ava, Missouri and shared over 65 years together. Ted and Sue were blessed with three children: Roger, Loretta, and Michella. Ted was a long-time resident of Pulaski County and owned and operated several businesses throughout the years. He became a brick mason and became partners with his brothers with their own construction business, Williams Construction Company. He later owned and operated Ted Williams Steakhouse, Continental Oil, Buckhorn Bowling Alley, along with other businesses. In his spare time, Ted enjoyed anything outdoors, but especially hunting and bird watching. He also was an avid gun collector and was a member of the National Rifle Association. Ted was a huge Donald Trump supporter and a member of the Pulaski County Republican Club and the Ozark Memorial VFW #3176 of St. Robert, Missouri. Ted had made a profession of faith and went home to be with his Lord Monday, November 22, 2021 in the Life Care Center of Waynesville having attained the age of 88 years. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. Ted leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Sue Williams; his three children, Roger Williams (Barbara) of Plato, MO, Loretta Rouse (Mike) of Waynesville, MO, and Michella Davenport (Terry) of St. Maries, ID; five grandchildren, Sarah Williams, Kristen Ham (Joey), Michael Mullins (Ashlee), Stephen Davenport, and Alena Davenport; one great-grandchild, Liliana Ham; a sister, Irene Fields (Ed) of Mesa, AZ; three nieces, Susan Cullison, Janice Rice, and Lelia York, and a number of other nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by one brother: J.J. Williams; and two sisters: Pauline Capps and Nadine Binkley. Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, in Faith Baptist Church. Burial with Full Military Honors followed in the Buckhorn Cemetery, under the care and direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert. Memorial contributions in memory of Ted Williams may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, and may be left at the funeral home.
