Tu Son "Sue" Hume

July 27, 1936 - June 22, 2015

Tu Son “Sue” Hume, daughter of the late To Yol Hwang and Sun Nam Song Hwang, was born July 27, 1936 in Seoul, Korea where she grew up and raised by her grandmother. In 1962, Sue met a United States soldier by the name of John Harold Hume. They were united in marriage on May 7, 1965 in Seoul. Shortly after their marriage, they came to the United States and were stationed in Texas. By the time they moved to the Waynesville area in 1972, Sue and John had been stationed in Germany, Washington D.C. and Hawaii. Sue loved to be outdoors. She enjoyed swimming, walking and fishing. She was also very talented with crocheting and would make different things for her friends. Sue enjoyed spending time with her friends. Sue passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 in the Life Care Center of Waynesville having attained the age of 78 years. She will be sadly missed by all those that knew and loved her. Sue leaves to cherish her memory, her many friends in the area. In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband John in 2005. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2015 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Pastor Lee officiating. Sue’s friend, Anne Maurina read the obituary and the songs “Amazing Grace” and “I Will Meet You In The Morning” were sung. Serving as escorts were Sue’s friends and church members. Burial followed in the Sunset Memorial Estates Cemetery and were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Sue Hume and may be left at the funeral home.
