Velma Lee Zarcone was born August 19, 1933 in Tribune, Missouri in Pulaski County. She was one of eleven children born to the union of the late Chester and Mary (Schultz) Wallace. Velma was united in marriage to Salvatore Zarcone Jr., on August 9, 1959 in Waynesville, Missouri. Velma passed away May 5, 2015 in Mercy Hospital of Springfield, Missouri at the age of 81. She spent her life being the most loving, caring, and comforting wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother that anyone could hope for. She opened her home to all each week for “Sunday Dinner” and particularly looked forward to holding, rocking, and reading stories to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Velma will be sadly missed but with cherished memories by her five children: Linda (Robert) Perdue, Sharon Zarcone, Tina King, Monica Zarcone, Richard (Shannon) Zarcone all of Waynesville, MO; two sisters: Lillian Gladine Boston of Waynesville, MO and Audra (Jay) O’Malley of Evening Shade, MO; seven grandchildren: John Perdue of Springfield, MO, Jacob (Rhonda) Perdue of Waynesville, MO, Brandi (Matthew) Voigt, Britney (Archie) Jackson of St. Robert, MO, Corey King, Callie Zarcone, Molly Zarcone of Waynesville, MO; five great-grandchildren: Rylie Marie Voigt of St. Robert, MO, Lillian Perdue of Blue Springs, MO, Kamryn Zarcone, Kendrick Jackson, Kairyn Jackson of St. Robert, MO; nieces, nephews, and many friends. Velma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and seven brothers and one sister. A celebration of life service was held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2015 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Pastor Lindell Shelden officiating. Soloist Becky Lercher sang “Amazing Grace” and the songs “Go Rest High on that Mountain” by Vince Gill, “When I Get Where I’m Going” by Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton and “How Great Thou Art” by Carrie Underwood and Vince Gill were played. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Velma Zarcone and may be left at the funeral home.
