William "Bill" Whatt Aistrope IV

SFC (Ret) William Whatt Aistrope IV, son of William Whatt Aistrope III and Georgia Elyse (Lunn) Aistrope Kelley, was born January 20, 1965 in Omaha, Nebraska. In his early years, he spent time in Glenwood, Iowa. He and the family moved to Nebraska where he attended school and graduated from high school in Kearney. On January 26, 1985, Bill was united in marriage to the love of his life, Susan Ann Neil in Kearney, Nebraska. They shared over 30 years of marriage together and were blessed with three children: Lulie Aistrope, William Whatt “Billy” Aistrope V and Railan Aistrope. In 1986, Bill enlisted with the United States Army and served in Desert Storm. He received many awards and commendations; some of which included: Army Commendation Medal (4th Award), Army Achievement Medal (9th Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Southwest Asia Service Medal w/ Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3rd Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army National Guard Recruiter Badge Senior, Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver Wheeled Vehicles Clasp, and the German Armed Forces Efficiency Badge Gold. Bill served 10 years in Germany (1/2 of his career). He served as a Marnelander/Dog Face combat engineer in the 3rd Infantry Division, at Harvey and Larsen Barracks in Kitzingen, Germany (2nd Brigade) and Schweinfurt, Germany (1st Brigade). He was then assigned to Fort Leonard Wood. In 2000, Bill transitioned from active duty to an active National Guard recruiting position. During his entire life, Bill always did the things he enjoyed most. He was an avid outdoorsman. He would go hunting and fishing every chance he could and would spend countless hours teaching his children his passion for the outdoors. He was a certified Hunter Safety Instructor for the Missouri Department of Conservation since 1995. He became involved with Ducks Unlimited and the National Turkey Federation. Bill professed his Christian faith and became a member of the Hazelgreen United Methodist Church near Richland. Bill went home to be with his Lord on Monday, March 2, 2015 in the Harry S Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Missouri having attained the age of 50 years, 1 month and 10 days. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. Bill leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Susan of the home; three children: Lulie Aistrope, William Whatt “Billy” Aistrope V and Railan Aistrope all of the home; five siblings: Kurt Kelley (Tami) of Elkhorn, NE, Kristina Homan (Larry) of Glenwood, IA, Everett Aistrope (Roxanne) of Kearney, NE, Suzanne O’Rourke (Shawn) of Tempe, AZ and Michael Kelley (Lindsey) of Kearney, NE; stepdad: Michael Kelley of Kearney, NE; several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his father: William Whatt Aistrope III; his mother: Georgia Elyse Aistrope Kelley; infant baby brother; and one infant child. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in memory of Bill Aistrope to The Sarcoma Research Fund, Washington University, Division of Oncology, Box 8007, ATTN: Robert Barczewski 660 S.
