Wilma Jean VanDeVenter

February 4, 1920 - September 17, 2015

Wilma Jean VanDeVenter, daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Trumbo) Hudson, was born February 4, 1920 in Manes, Missouri. She passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015 in the Life Care Center of Waynesville having attained the age of 95 years. As a young girl, Wilma grew up in the Manes, Wright County, Missouri area, where she attended school and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School. Wilma was united in marriage to William Paul VanDeVenter and they shared many wonderful years together before he preceded her in death. They were blessed with one son: David. Wilma moved to the Waynesville, Missouri area and worked for several years as a bookkeeper for Al Lynch’s Gas Company. She was a member of the Westside Baptist Church of Waynesville. In her spare time, Wilma loved to cook. She was best known for the cookies that she enjoyed baking and sharing with others. She also enjoyed spending time outside tending to her flowers and most importantly, spending time with her family and friends. Wilma will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter-in-law, Marcella VanDeVenter of Laquey, MO; her granddaughter, Roxanne Hendrix (Carroll “Buzz”) of Laquey, MO; her great grandson, Chris Hendrix (Sara) of Laquey, MO; a great-great grandson, Brayden Hendrix; her sister-in-law, Mildred McCoy of Mountain Grove, MO; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Wilma was preceded in death by her only child, David VanDeVenter; and four brothers: Lowell, Leonard, Lester and Leland.
