Berniece Amos

Berniece Amos, daughter of the late Clyde and Nora Ellen (Broyles) Hamilton, was born January 9, 1930 near Dry Knob, Missouri. She went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 2, 2019 in her home having attained the age of eighty-nine years. Berniece attended Barnett School and on August 12, 1947, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Johnnie D. Amos. They shared seventy years together and were blessed with four sons: Larry, Gene, Jerry, and Danny. Berniece and Johnnie made their home in several places in southwestern Laclede County around Orla, Falcon, and Lynchburg, Missouri. Berniece was able to stay at home and care for her family. She loved working on the farm and helping Johnnie anyway she could. She enjoyed working outdoors in her flowers, especially her roses. She was also very talented with embroidery work and loved being able to share her handwork with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling on vacations and shopping. Berniece’s greatest joy was her family, friends and neighbors. She loved visiting with everyone and just being together as a family. Early in life, she made a profession of faith in Christ, and over the years attended Orla Baptist Church, Lynchburg Baptist Church and Evening Shade Baptist Church. She was always willing to help where she could. Berniece will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory, her three sons, Gene Amos (Judy) of Falcon, MO, Jerry Amos (Edna) of Falcon, MO, and Danny Amos (Vicki) of Falcon, MO; twelve grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Wanda Hamilton of Lebanon, MO; two brothers-in-law, Eddie Amos of Lebanon, MO, and Jewel Amos and wife, Gail of Grovespring, MO; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Berniece was preceded in death by her husband: Johnnie Amos; son: Larry Amos; grandson: Nathan Amos; two sisters: Juanita Johnson and husband Harold, Pauline Amos and husband Wilbert; and Noel Dean Hamilton. Memorial Contributions in memory of Berniece Amos can be made to the McBride Cemetery or to the Gideon Bible Ministry and may be left at the funeral home.
