Frank Allen Tate

Frank “Allen” Tate, the son of the late William Henry Tate and Laura Christine Nimmo Tate was born on January 27, 1925 in Selmer, Tennessee and went home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2011 at the age of 86 years. On June 10, 1953, Allen married Emma “Jean” Chatman in Tyronza, Arkansas, who preceded him in death on September 5, 1999. To this union, three children were born. On December 4, 2000 he was married to Sybil Barton who has become a wonderful mother, grandmother, and aunt to all of us. In 1945, Allen began his military career in the United States at Fort Bliss, Texas. As a veteran of WWII, serving in Germany, Allen, was a Sergeant in the Military Police Corp and specialized in small arms. Allen was employed as a farmer in the Harrisburg, Arkansas area for many years until moving to West Plains, Missouri in 1970. He worked for Hooker Farms and Stewart-Morrison Redi-Mix until his retirement. Allen loved spending time with God, his family and friends, as well as fishing and playing music for “the old folks” at many facilities in Howell, Pulaski, and Miller counties in Missouri. Allen accepted the Lord as his Savior at the First Baptist Church in Tyronza, Arkansas in 1937. He served the Lord faithfully and raised his family in church. He was ordained as a deacon in the Center Grove Church of Moody, Missouri then later attended the Berean Baptist Church of West Plains, Missouri until moving to Richland, Missouri where he became a member of Grace Baptist Church and served as a deacon. Allen’s first wife, Jean, his parents, his four brothers and sister, Floyd, Fred, Raymond, Arthur, and Edith Nagel, preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife Sybil; sons: Randall Tate and wife Freda of West Plains, MO; Terry Tate and wife Mary Ann of Richland, MO; and one daughter: Shelia Collins and husband Robert of Stoutland, MO; one stepson: Roland Barton and wife Susan of Alexandria, LA; and one stepdaughter Mary Ann Tate of Richland, MO. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Brandon Tate (Monica), Nathan Tate (Glenda), Jeremy Tate (Rebecca), Sara Tate Cassidy (Eric), Ashley Collins Mansker (Justin), Amanda Collins, six step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grandchildren; his brothers: WG “Hollis” Tate (Daisy) of AR; and Roy Tate (Edna) of NC; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Grace Baptist Church of Richland with Pastor Rocky Harris and Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating. The music selections chosen were “If I Go” and “Wilt Thou Be Made Whole”. Soloist/Pianist Mary Ann Tate sang “How Great Thou Art”. Serving as Pallbearers were Brandon Tate, Justin Mansker, Jeremy Tate and Eric Cassidy. Honorary pallbearers included Nathan Tate, Clyde “Jr,” Gideon, Barry Oursbourn and Charlie Wiggins. Graveside services with military honors were held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011 in the Howell Valley Cemetery, West Plains, Missouri. Military honors were provided by Missouri Honors Team from Rolla, Missouri with Rev. Bob Arnold officiating. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon Bibles in memory of Allen Tate and may be left at the funeral home.
