Kenneth Elsworth Lowery

Kenneth Elsworth Lowery, son of the late Artie Vincent and Florence (Simmons) Lowery, was born October 24, 1938 in Dahlgren, Illinois. He went home to be with his Lord Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in his home in Waynesville, Missouri having attained the age of 78 years. Kenneth entered the United States Marines as a Military Police and served his country faithfully for 13 years before being medically discharged. During that time, he was stationed in California and after leaving the military, he remained in California. He continued serving the public as an officer with the San Bernardino Police Department and the Marshall’s Office. He later moved to Florida where he served with the Sherriff’s Department for 10 years and came to Missouri in 2001 and served with the Department of Corrections before retiring. He was a faithful servant to the public in law enforcement for 40 years. On February 23, 2012, Kenneth was united in marriage to Leonida Elorde in the Philippines. They shared the last five years together and many wonderful memories. After Kenneth retired from public service, he was able to spend more time doing the things he enjoyed; such as: fishing, chatting on the computer with friends, shooting guns at the shooting range, art, and singing. He enjoyed singing so much that you could hear him humming a tune at any given moment. He was very active at his church, Amazing Grace Fellowship Church of Crocker, singing in the choir and doing whatever else needed to be done. He enjoyed fellowshipping with fellow believers. Kenneth was proud of his family and loved spending time with them. He also enjoyed playing jokes on them and his friends. He took to heart the Scripture, that a “merry heart doeth good like a medicine”. Kenneth will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Leonida of the home; seven children, Kimberly Ann Fowler of Crestview, FL, Kevin Lowery of the State of Nebraska, Karen Watkins of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jeffery Lowery and Sandra Walters, both of San Bernardino, CA, and Alaina and Hilarry Elorde, both of the home; eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a brother, Gene Lowery of San Diego, CA, a sister, Brenda Powell of Oceanside, CA ; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by two stillborn twin brothers; and five other siblings: Delores, Darrell, Bobby, Betty, and Carol Sue. Memorial services with military honors were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017 in the Amazing Grace Fellowship Church of Crocker, Missouri with Pastor Richard Harris officiating. Military honors were provided by the United States Marines. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Kenneth Lowery and may be left at the funeral home.
