Marilyn Sue Fugitt

Marilyn Sue Fugitt, daughter of the late Leamon Grider and Luella (Gant) Grider, was born in Norborne, Missouri, on September 4, 1941. Marilyn happily grew up and attended school in Norborne, where she graduated in 1959. After school, Marilyn worked for Shelter Insurance in the Kansas City area, and later worked at Banquet Foods in Carrollton and Marshall, Missouri before moving to Richland, Missouri in 1988. On June 27, 2010, Marilyn was united in marriage to Robert Eldon Fugitt in Marshfield, Missouri, and together they shared the love of God, family, and community before Bob’s passing on January 30, 2016. Though their time together was brief, the couple enjoyed each and every moment they were given by God. Throughout Marilyn’s life she enjoyed trying many things and found joy working in daycare, cleaning houses and commercial buildings, and worked at First State Bank for many years, before retiring in 2015. In her spare time Marilyn enjoyed flowers, horseback riding, studying her Bible and getting involved with church activities, and visiting with friends and neighbors in her community. Marilyn had made a profession of faith at a young age and was baptized at First Baptist Church of Hardin and was a beloved member of First Baptist Church in Richland. She also enjoyed visiting Cornerstone Baptist Church from time to time, Serving her Lord and Savior was what was most important to Marilyn, wherever that led…she just followed her heart. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Leamon and Luella, her husband, Bob, one daughter, Kristi McCoy (1996), one son, Randy Green (2025), and one grandson, Grayson McNail. Marilyn left this world behind on the morning of Sunday, July 26, 2026, while in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MO, having attained the age of eighty-four years. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Pamela Hartwig of Ozark, MO, Kim Davis (Bobby) of Richmond, MO, and Lori McNail (James) of Richland, MO; eleven grandchildren, Christopher Green (Patty), Jarrod Green (Angie), Tiffany Davidson (Chase), Danielle Bowling (Dustin), Caleb Hartwig (Jessi), Rachel Bersano (Derick), Sarah DeGeare (Garrett), Madison Alexander (Braden), Gavin McNail, Payton McNail, and Breelan McNail; nine great-grandchildren, Liam, Cora, Noah, Allix, Cheyenne, Cashton, Eli, Patrick, and Lane; three sisters, Elaine Wheeler (Donnie) Hardin, Missouri, Karen Johnson (Albert) Mayview, Missouri, and Linda Weisz (John) Hardin, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. People define their treasures in this world differently. Marilyn valued her family and friends dearly and loved them deeply, however, Marilyn would want you to know that her true treasure is in Heaven with her Heavenly Father. She may be gone from our sight, but Marilyn will never leave our hearts. Her legacy of love, kindness, gentle hugs, warm smile, and beautiful memories will forever remain. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2026, in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Pastor’s Chuck Baker and Bob Lily officiating. Recorded music included, The Morrison Sisters, “What A Day That Will Be” and Tommee Profitt & Fleurie’s “I’ll Fly Away.” Escorts included Jamie McNail, Gavin McNail, Braden Alexander, Chase Davidson, Dustin Bowling, Christopher Green, and Jarrod Green. Honorary escorts were Garrett DeGeare, Derick Bersano, and Caleb Hartwig. Graveside services followed in the Fairhaven Cemetery, Norborne, Missouri with Speaker, Braden Alexander officiating and Madison Alexander singing, “What A Day That Will Be.” Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland. Memorial Contributions can be made in memory of Marilyn Fugitt to Fair Haven Cemetery, and may be left at Memorial Chapel.
