Penny Lynn Osborne

Penny Lynn Osborne, passed away at 6:34 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at St. John’s Regional Hospital of Springfield, Missouri at the age of 46 years, 7 months and 13 days. Daughter of Robert L. Deaton and Patsy (Brumbelow) Deaton, Penny was born July 16, 1964 in Rome, Georgia. Penny grew up in Aragon, Georgia and attended school in Rockmart. While attending Rockmart High School, Penny was very active as a cheerleader and also played tennis and softball. She was a very athletic person and enjoyed sports even today. On June 29, 1985, Penny married the love of her life, Jerry Dean Osborne in Aragon, Georgia. They just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this past summer. Penny and Jerry were blessed with two sons, Robert Jess and Kody Trent. They shared many wonderful memories together as a family. As a young girl, Penny was a member of the Aragon Baptist Church where she was baptized. After she and Jerry married, Penny became a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Rockmart, Georgia. Due to Jerry being in the military, Penny and the family moved several times, but eventually ended up in the Waynesville / Ft. Leonard Wood area. She began working with the Waynesville R-VI School District. She was a secretary at Pershing Elementary School before moving to Wood Elementary School where she was currently employed. She was very organized and had the uncanny ability to learn parents’ and children’s names and their lunch numbers in record time. She was very dedicated to helping the children any way that she could. Penny was very active in her sons’ lives. You could find her at every game that her boys played in and some other games as well. She was a member of the Booster Club and the Parent Teachers Organization (PTO). She was a wonderful mother and wife and will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved her. Penny leaves to cherish her memory her husband: Jerry Dean Osborne; two sons: Robert Jess Osborne and Kody Trent Osborne, both of St. Robert; her mother: Patsy Deaton, grandmother: Pearl Brumbelow and brother: Lee Deaton (Jennifer) all of Rockmart, Georgia; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, other relatives and friends. Penny was preceded in death by her father: Robert L. Deaton and her grandfather: Woodrow Brumbelow. Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery – Ft. Leonard Wood with Rev. Larry Atkins officiating. Serving as escorts were Robert “Lee” Deaton, Robert “Bob” Dale Jones, Will Piercey, Chris “Zim” Morgan, Matt Williams and Craig “Chevy” Chavez. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Penny Osborne and may be left at the funeral home.
